Microsoft Word

Use the Restrict Editing tool to protect your materials and allow students "view only" access. This puts editing privileges behind a password, so you can still make changes to your document as needed but prevent unauthorized changes to materials shared with students. When using this option, be sure to add a password so that students cannot bypass your setting and always make sure to save your changes so that they'll be applied.

Google Docs

Grant students "view only" access in the sharing settings. To do this, you need to allow access for MMA or anyone with the link as a viewer. Be sure not to grant them access as an editor, or they'll be able to make changes to your materials. For an added layer of protection, you may choose to restrict who has permission to download, copy, or print your materials using the gear icon. Once you've adjusted the settings, you can copy the link and distribute your materials.

Blackboard

You can create your materials within Blackboard, without needing to use an external application, using the Ultra Document. Students interact with your material within Blackboard, or can download alternative formats through Ally. By default, they do not have the privileges to edit your original document, so there are no settings to be altered to restrict their access.
