Course copy in Blackboard.
There are three options to select from on the Course Copy page.
- Copy Course Materials into a New Course: Copying Course materials into a new Course creates a Course in the system and populates it with content from a Course already on the system. The Menu specified in the source Course will replace the default Menu in the new Course.
- Copy Course Materials into an Existing Course: Copying Course Materials into an Existing Course will add content to a Course, but it will not remove existing content. (CHOOSE THIS)
- Copy Course with Users (Exact Copy): This is the only Copy option that copies user records, such as Grades and Discussion Board posts, to the new Course. This option copies everything in the Course to the new Course exactly as it appears in the existing Course. This option is useful if a Course is split into multiple sections. The Instructor may perform an exact copy and then un-enroll specific Students to create two sections of the same Course.
Note: A user can only copy materials into a Course where the user has a role of Instructor, Teaching Assistant, or Course Builder.
1. Navigate to the course you want to copy in Blackboard. On the left menu scroll down to Course Management then Package and Utilities -> Select Course Copy.
2. Select a Copy Type (see above for an explanation for each course copy attributes). Blackboard automatically creates your new course ID’s for you, so the most likely choice is into an existing course.
3. Select the Destination Course ID by clicking on the Browse button.
This will bring up all of the courses you are assigned an Instructor for. Select the course that you want to copy the material into and click Submit.
4. Select all your copy course material options. You can use the Select All button to copy everything and then uncheck the boxes of the items you don’t want to copy or go through and check all of the boxes individually that you want to copy. (Remember to include the Grade Center and the Test, Surveys and Pools)
Additional options to copy: NOTE - Make sure to check the Grade Center Columns and Settings box
Additional options to copy: NOTE- Include TEST, Surveys and Pools if they are in the original course.
Choose your options for file attachments; recommended to leave the default setting to copy links and copies of the content.
******IMPORTANT Do NOT copy enrollments. ***** Click Submit when finished.
5. You will receive an email when your course copy is completed (should take a few minutes).
Email confirmation.
6. Navigate to the course you copied to, you will see a confirmation banner. You can now build your newly copied course for the semester.
