To access the camera and microphone settings in Blackboard Collaborate follow these steps.

  1. Log into Blackboard and launch a Blackboard Collaborate Ultra session within your course.
  2. Once the session is started you can assign and camera and microphone in the classroom or check the settings of the camera and microphone.
  3. You will see a purple arrow in the bottom right of the main tab on the screen.  Click the purple arrow and a Pop Up Menu will appear.

4. Select the "Gear icon".  This is where you can assign a camera and microphone.  Select "Set up your camera and microphone"  Once you do that a pop up window will appear in the center of the screen.

5. It will ask you to choose your microphone first.  In the classrooms you want to choose "Shure P300 Echo Cancelling Speakerphone".  There might be other options available but the Shure P300 is the best one to select for the classroom application.   After you select that you will see a purple bar in the middle move.  This indicates that the microphone is working and it is picking up you and the classroom.  Once you select "Yes. Audio is working" then it will allow you to select a camera.

The camera you want to use is the "VDO360 2SEE".  This will capture the whiteboard in the front of the room.  Once you see the camera image in the window please press "Yes. Video is working".  Once you do that the Pop Up window will disappear and you will be brought back the Collaborate session.  You will see the camera image in the bottom left of the session window.

Blackboard automatically mutes the microphone and disables the camera.

To turn on the microphone and camera you must click on the icon .  The icons will turn green and no longer have a slash mark across them.  A purple meter will move up and down within the microphone icon itself so you can see that the audio is being sent to the people in the session.
